Meshwork: Somatic Foam Rolling (In Person at The Berkeley Alembic)

Tension — a requisite force of life — lives in our tissues in constellations unique to each one of us, shaped by our movement patterns, thoughts, fears, dreams, and ideas into electrically tuned patterns within the nervous system. The ideal amount of tension is not zero. But we can learn to thoughtfully modulate how this tension lives in our bodies, especially within connective tissue and fascia, allowing for optimal physical and mental function.

Self-myofascial release (SMFR) and foam rolling promote flexibility, ease soreness and stiffness, stimulate blood flow, and support the distribution of healthy tissue tension. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of connective tissue — including fascia and its role in the musculoskeletal system — as well as strategies for keeping it nourished, comfortable, and supple.

Learning to attune to the “mind” of your connective tissue as a living meshwork of sensation, support, and communication offers a grounded way to deepen awareness of body, movement, and mind. Foam rolling and myofascial release with therapy balls are powerful yet calming methods for exploring your patterns in granular, embodied detail. The session begins with a brief, 15-minute anatomy and physiology overview, followed by a flowing foam-rolling and self-myofascial-release practice from toes to head. Rollers and therapy balls will be provided for the duration of the class. Space is limited, so advance registration is recommended.

Feel the bass on two dance floors and stages as legendary artists like El Papachango, Soohan, Nadi, Noetik, Sasha Rose, Oseye, Neptune, Bex Naj, and Museaic drop the beats that crush. Come fully decked and soak in the vibe, it will be a ritual of pure Fantasia.

Our two dance floors will keep the energy flowing all night long, while arcade games offer playful escapes and cosmic elixirs fuel your spirit. You’ll find both a cosmic bar, glowing with galactic flavors, and a regular bar to keep you grounded in the magic. Tea lounge is always the best spot to ground in and catch up with your people.
