The challenging forearm balance Pinca Mayūrāsana (“peacock feather pose” in English) requires a potent combination of strength and mobility in our upper backs, cervical spines, and shoulders. We also have to work really hard in our lower bodies to sustain seemingly effortless verticality. There’s an attentional analog to the delicacy of balancing on a razor’s edge like this: paying close enough attention to the task at hand without gripping so much that we get in our own way.
